Comments made by attorney general Greg Abbott on Wednesday are not being received well in south Texas. During his latest policy proposal he mentioned how, he plans to double spending costs in border security to a total of 300-million dollars. During his proposal, he also compared the south Texas region to a third world country making reference to several major corruption scandals involving the Cameron county judicial system and the hidalgo county sheriff’s office. Mayor Raul Salinas responded to those comments this morning. In the past, Abbott has expressed his opposition to what most consider to be important issues in the Hispanic community, one of those being the dreamers act. Salinas said his comments are just a political ploy. The candidate’s comments have caused much controversy not only here in Laredo, but throughout the state of Texas.
